How did I become addicted to chatting??? Initially I just wanted to surprise my Sister by creating a yahoo ID and pretending to be a stranger contacting her. She lived in Bangkok at that time, and I knew her ID, and also knew she liked to chat in the Thai chat rooms. I tried to find her in the Thai chat rooms, but never did, so then I tried to add her to my contacts but she keep denying me. Finally I sent a message saying that it was me, and then she accepted my request. *Sigh*.
Another reason that I started chatting was because my brother moved to stay with us, and I was uncomfortable with this. It wasn't that I didn't love him or not want him to live with us, but it was because I was used to being home alone. I could listen to music and read books all day, which was my habit. His worked shifts and worked one day and then had three days off (nice job, huh???). That meant he had lots of free time to stay at home and his wife was jobless at that time. She is always nice to me, but as I said I was used to being home alone, hehehe.

At first I didn't know much about yahoo chat. I moved from room to room and suddenly an instant message popped up. It said "Hi" and asked '"What is your name?" I said nothing just sent a big smile to the person and closed the box, lol, and that was my first experience of online chatting.
The next person that I chatted with was an Indian girl. She sent me PM and when we were chatting she keep asking me to answer faster. I told her to stop asking that because I couldn't reply any faster. It was my first time chatting and my English was poor. I was thinking in Thai and translating into English in my mind, also I had never written in English before, so it was difficult for me. She apologized and gave me her email to write to her sometime, but I never did.
There are lots of sick, weird, idiotic, morons (whatever you like to call them) online. At first I was upset with rude people that contacted me. I even had someone ask me to marry them the first time we chatted!!! And I said yes immediately, lol, only joking. I was so innocent back then that I was shocked easily. I learned not to be serious when chatting and learned the best way to handle crazy people is to put them in my ignore list.

I liked to watch people chat in the main room, and my favorite became Thai chat room 1. I got to know some regular chatters there, but they didn't know me. I chatted in the main room only when my sister was there. She used to be a regular chatter in Thai chat room 3, and she introduced me in the room, and told them about my situation. She told them I would be slow and asked them to be patient with me, but I didn't chat with them much.
I got bored with my old ID, so I created a new one. I chose on_wheelchair to be my new ID. When my Sister first saw it she didn't like it, and she said I was crazy because it was not funny!!! After she got used to it she said that it was a funny ID, lol.
Then one day someone said hi to me in Thai chat room 1 and I replied back. I talked with him for a short time, and since then I started chatting in the main room and have learned how to get people to notice me, hehehe.
It is almost one year since my first time chatting. Now I chat every day and we are like a big family. I have Sisters, Brothers, Daddies, Mommies, and even a secret Hubby on the net, lol. I joked with my close friend online that I'm his mistress. Now I just need a Son and Daughter online, hahaha. |
